Wildfires have drastically impacted the lives and studios of countless creatives. We’re dedicated to supporting artists in rebuilding, staying connected, and finding the assistance they need.

1. Emergency Grants & Financial Assistance

Adolph & Esther Gottlieb Foundation Emergency Grant

  • Who’s Eligible: Painters, printmakers, and sculptors who have maintained a dedicated practice for at least 10 years.

  • What It Offers: One-time grants up to $15,000 (typical range is $5,000–$7,000) in the event of a catastrophic emergency.

Craft Emergency Relief Fund (CERF+)

  • Who’s Eligible: Individual craft artists (18+), working with traditional or folk materials, who have a public-facing practice.

  • What It Offers: $3,000 emergency relief grants for those who’ve experienced a significant, disruptive emergency or disaster.

Artists’ Fellowship One-Time Emergency Aid

  • Who’s Eligible: Professional visual artists (and their families or dependents) who have lost income or faced hardship due to sickness, natural disaster, bereavement, or unexpected extreme hardship.

  • What It Offers: Need-based financial assistance. Applicants must demonstrate that their primary income comes from artwork sales (Schedule C on U.S. Federal tax returns) and ideally have a record of exhibitions.

Rauschenberg Emergency Medical Grants for Artists

  • Who’s Eligible: Artists in the visual arts, choreography, or film/video/electronic/digital arts experiencing unexpected medical, mental health, or dental emergencies. Income caps apply ($75,000 average gross income for individuals).

  • What It Offers: Need-based funding to cover emergent medical expenses.

Foundation for Contemporary Arts Emergency Grant

  • Who’s Eligible: Visual and performing artists who have sudden, unanticipated opportunities to exhibit or present but lack time to pursue other funding—or who face unexpected expenses due to canceled exhibitions or performances.

  • What It Offers: Urgent grants $500–$3,000.

Entertainment Community Fund Emergency Financial Assistance

  • Who’s Eligible: Performing artists and industry workers in theater, film, television, music, radio, and dance who meet documented income criteria over the past 6 consecutive years.

  • What It Offers: Monetary assistance for those who cannot access industry documents due to disaster.

YoungArts Los Angeles Wildfire Emergency Microgrants

  • Who’s Eligible: LA community members significantly impacted by the wildfires and experiencing urgent financial emergencies (housing, medicine, childcare, food).

  • What It Offers: $5,000 microgrants, limited to one per applicant.

  • Application Opens: Monday, January 20, at 9 a.m. PST.

LA Arts Community Fire Relief Fund

  • What It Offers: Emergency relief for artists and arts workers in all disciplines who have lost residences, studios, archives, artworks, or livelihoods in the Los Angeles fires.

  • Organized By: Getty-led coalition (J. Paul Getty Trust, Hammer Museum, LACMA, MOCA, and others).

  • Application Opens: Monday, January 20, 9 a.m. PST.

LA Art World Fire Relief

  • What It Is: A mutual aid fund on GoFundMe, aiming to raise $500,000 for artists/art workers who’ve experienced total or severe damage to their home or studio.

  • Apply for Aid: Fill out this form

  • Offer Temporary Housing/Donations: A separate form is available for those who can offer shelter, clothing, etc.

2. Mutual Aid & Community Support

Artist Material Exchange

  • What It Is: A crowdsourced spreadsheet for artists to request or offer materials.

  • How to Participate: Reach out to the organizer or check local social media groups that share the link.

Art Supply + Studio Help

  • Immersive Art Collective: Offering free art storage and other resources fra@immersiveartcollective.org

  • Superchief Gallery: Hosting an ongoing art supply drive and a night market in support of fire victims.

  • Thinkspace Projects: Collecting and donating supplies to Red Cross LA; also distributing N95 masks while supplies last.

  • Immersive Art Collective: Providing temporary storage for salvaged artworks/instruments, collecting water, hygiene products, blankets, etc.

  • Make Room: Collecting essential items (N95 masks, flashlights, phone chargers, etc.) and art supplies at 6361 Waring Avenue, LA 90038.

FEMA Disaster Assistance

  • Who’s Eligible: Individuals affected by the Los Angeles fires.

  • What It Offers: Financial support and supplies (food, water, medication), with restrictions.

LA Fire Mutual Aid Resource Hub

  • Link: An ongoing list of volunteer efforts, donation drives, and temporary housing offers in the LA region.

Mutual Aid Los Angeles (MALAN)

  • Link: Lists ways to volunteer, donate, or receive assistance within LA city limits and surrounding areas.
